On October 16th, 2011, the Panamanian film “Chance” received the Best Screenplay Award at the Skip City International D-Cinema Festival 2011, in Kawaguchi city, Saitama prefecture, Japan.
The said festival aims to discover and promote film producers in Japan and around the world. This year 494 film submissions were received from 81 countries and regions, selecting 12 films to be presented at the festival, including the film “Chance” produced and directed by Abner Benaim.
During the closing ceremony, judges made good comments about “Chance”, praising the high quality of Panamanian film production. There is no doubt that this is a great step forward for Panama to enter the realm of the international film industry.
The award is not only a high distinction for the great work and talent of Director Benaim, his film crew and collaborators, but has also contributed to promote the international image of Panama in Japan.
