On April 19, 2017, the Embassy of Panama on Japan held a promotion event of Panamanian culture and tourism in the official residence of the Ambassador of Panama to Japan, where 30 representatives and members of the NHK Cultural Center participated.
NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Japan’s only public broadcaster) operates 47 cultural centers in the country in order to offer the opportunity where the people can obtain the broad knowledge about different countries. It is important to point out that yearly more than 680 thousand people participate in the activities of these cultural centers.
During the event, H.E. Ritter N. Diaz, Ambassador of Panama to Japan expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the Cultural Centers of NHK to introduce the different attractive aspects of the tourism in Panama. Also, he delivered a presentation about the country, including the general dates of Panama, tourism, culture and the Panama Canal expansion.
Furthermore, the participants enjoyed various Panamanian handicrafts, such as molas, chaquiras, rum and specialty coffee, having a chance to taste Panamanian gastronomy, including ceviche, chicken stew, potato and beat salad, green banana fried and sausage stew, guandu beans rice, pan pudding, Panamanian rum and coffee.
The participants also had an opportunity to enjoy various Panamanian songs, presented by the Panamanian singer Roberto the Specialists. They expressed their gratitude to the hospitality of the Embassy and their interest in Panamanian culture.
