On October 30, 2017, the Embassy of Panama in Japan participated in the Latin American Bazar 2017 held in Tokyo Prince Hotel.
This Bazar is organized by the Japan-Latin American and the Caribbean Ladies Association, with the purpose to raise funds for the charity works in our region. In the case of Panama, the raised funds are donated to social activities of the Office of the First Lady.
The event counted on the participation of Mrs. Kaori Kono, Wife of Minister of Foreign Affairs in Japan, on behalf of Princess Hitachi, Honorary President of the Bazar.
The Embassy presented an exhibition table with banners of tourism and handicraft of Panama. In the food table, we offered traditional dishes such as “biztec picado y arroz con maíz” (chopped beef steak and corn rice), “ensalada verde” (green salad), “plátano en tentación”(syrupped plantains), and a traditional dessert called “mamallena” (bread-pudding) , as well as a traditional drink known as “ron ponche” (eggnog with rum) .
We also took this opportunity to disseminate the information about the World Youth Day (JMJ2019), which will be held in Panama in 2019.
More than 3,000 people participated in the event, who are interested in Latin American and the Caribbean region.
