Coffee of Panama in SCAJ2009 
(October 14th - 16th, 2009)
The Embassy of Panama would like to take this opportunity to inform that the National Association of Coffee Processors and Exporters - PANAMA (Asociación Nacional de Beneficiadores y Exportadores de Café de Panamá –ANBEC-, in Spanish) will participate as exhibitor at the SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition 2009, which will take place from October 14th, 2009 to October 16th, 2009 at Tokyo Big Sight West Hall 3, Ariake 3-21-1, Koto-ku, Tokyo, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On October 16th, the festival will finish at 4:00 p.m. The admission fee for the SCAJ World Specialty Coffee Conference and Exhibition 2009 is 1,200 yen (on-site payment only). The event is organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ).
The Panamanian delegation will be exhibiting coffee products and carrying out coffee tasting, manufactured in a rich natural environment with state-of-the-art technology and high quality standards at the booth No. 46.
The Panamanian Specialty Coffee has been awarded in numerous international coffee competitions, such as “Best of Panama”, Rainforest Alliance Cupping for Quality, and Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) Cupping Pavilion, obtaining world record prices. Panamanian growers export coffee bean to premium coffee roasters in Europe, the United States and Japan.
During the event, representatives from the National Association of Coffee Processors and Exporters - PANAMA (Asociación Nacional de Beneficiadores y Exportadores de Café de Panamá –ANBEC-, in Spanish) will make a presentation in an open seminar on Panamanian Specialty Coffee on Thursday, October 15th, 2009 from 14:00 p.m. to 15:30 p.m. at the room 101, Conference Tower, Tokyo Big Sight. The lecture will be delivered in Spanish with Japanese translation. It is required to make an application for this presentation by SCAJ2009 official website. (ENG/JAP)
Moreover, Dr. María Ruiz, a Panamanian coffee specialist, will make a conference, on Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. at the Event Stage 2, Exhibition Hall, Tokyo Big Sight, addressed to coffee maisters. She will present the most notable species of “Geisha” and carry out various Panamanian coffee tasting, so it will be an opportunity to exchange ideas with coffee maisters.

Pre Caribbean Festival
We would like inform that the Embassies of Panama, Cuba, Belize, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, with the support of Aeromexico, Maxpec Corporation and Hideto Tomabechi will carry out the Pre Caribbean Festival in Japan on Thursday, October 8 at Shibuya Duo Music Exchange from 18:00. Door opens at 17:30.
This Festival seeks to build the Caribbean Image through lifestyle, dance, music, and other aspects of Caribbean culture, which are very attractive to Japanese people, since it generates in them an ambience of relaxation, joy and spirit of friendship.
Visitors will also be able to purchase original items from the participating countries such as guayaberas, molas, and coffee from Panama, paintings and handicraft from Haiti, Cigars and Rum from Cuba, Juice and Hot Sauce from Belize, Rum and Coffee from Dominican Republic as well as many other items displayed at the Embassies’ booths.
The Pre Caribbean Festival also aims at identifying sponsors to raise funds to celebrate the First Caribbean Festival in Japan next year, which would put together famous musicians, artists and Olympic champions from Caribbean countries, with exhibition and sale of food, beverages, products and tourist attractions, generating a greater interaction between Japan and region.

(October 1st – 4th, 2009) Expo Rural & Expo Carne in Panama City
The Expo Rural & Expo Carne Exhibition 2009, organized by Expocarne, S.A., will take place at Las Islas Room of the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City from October 1st to 4th, 2009. EXPO RURAL and EXPO CARNE is an international trade fair to promote products from the agricultural, industrial, technological and commercial sectors. This exhibition, an initiative of the private sector, aims at fostering networking among producers, buyers, distributors, and suppliers of food and raw materials, equipment & technology. The event also helps to promote Panama as a strategic point for merchandise distribution to Latin America, North America, Asia and Europe. The exhibition will be held at a 6,000-square-meter area with an estimated attendance of 5,000 visitors.
