Trilateral CSR Agreement among Mitsubishi, INADEH and CAPAC

Oct. 2008

As a result of a previous visit to Panama carried out by Mr. Mikio Sasaki, Chairman of the Board of Mitsubishi Corporation, the Panamanian Construction Chamber (CAPAC, in Spanish) signed a Corporate Social Responsibility agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation and the National Training Institute of Human Development (INADEH, in Spanish), for the amount of US$ 750,000.

The agreement seeks to train human resources in the construction sector, particularly in welding, bricklaying, reinforcement and electrical work, which are high-paid jobs demanded in the labor market.

Japan Tour of San Blas Band

The Embassy of Panama is pleased to inform that Min-On Concert Association has invited the Panamanian Band San Blas to carry out music performances throughout Japan during August, September, and October.

Besides San Blas Band, Min-On will present musical groups from other Central American countries on the occasion of the 45th Anniversary of its foundation.

San Blas Band was created in January 2007, and its members are top level musicians with a vast national and international musical experience, who have performed in several festivals in Panama and abroad. Its repertoire reflects Panamanian music mixed with modern rhythms.

It is important to point out that Panama enjoys a variety of musical rhythms such as salsa, merengue, reggae, reggaeton, folk music, and others, which depicts the Caribbean and very cheerful character of Panamanian people.

In regard to the salsa rhythm, Panama has produced a great salsa singer known as Ruben Blades, who is a four-time Grammy winner, and happens to be the present Minister of Tourism of Panama. In this connection, San Blas band has the privilege of being directed by Mr. Marco Linares, who has played guitar at Ruben Blades’ concerts in the past.

We harbor no doubt that the Japanese people will enjoy the great Panamanian rhythms of San Blas band, which is more than qualified to convey the Japanese people the unassuming feeling and character of Panamanians.
